LIVE From the 2011 Press Ganey National Client Conference

If you've read "Grow Smart, Risk Less" or even follow my blog, it will come as no surprise that, even especially as an entrepreneur, I'm a huge proponent of always wearing your "student" hat.  And that - along with my "networking" hat - are what I'm sporting today and tomorrow as I attend the 2011 Press Ganey National Client Conference in Dallas with my team. Today, I had the opportunity to lead a breakout session about exploring quality in the context of the performance of your business. From the office of the CEO, an organization's performance can look very different than it does from the front lines, which is why I participated in CBS' hit television show Undercover Boss which aired in April of this year. I was able to not only share my first-hand experience and lessons learned from my time spent "undercover" but also opportunities for home health care to excel in the evolving market place and introduce new concepts to unite the home care industry through social networking. We had some great discussion around this and other related topics that we wouldn't have otherwise had, which really hit home once again why my team and I attend events like this one. If not immediately, the impending New Year will be a great opportunity to resolve to do even MORE to be student of YOUR industry. Just think: you may be missing out on important conversations like the ones I just described. What will YOU do to become a student of your industry? What kinds of events have you sought to participate in to be a better business owner?
